Child Play Therapy
Every parent wants the very best for his or her child. But when children are faced with difficult emotional issues, their lack of life experience and coping skills can make those issues extremely difficult to overcome. That is where child and family therapy can help.
With more than eighteen years of experience working with children who experienced trauma, I am proud to say that I was able to help children heal and start enjoying childhood again.
Oftentimes, children do not know how to express their feelings and do not disclose incidents of bullying or other emotional pain from stressful events until they come to counseling.
In counseling of children (ages 3-12), I use Play, Art, Clay and Sand Tray Therapy to help them feel safe, express their feelings and needs assertively instead of acting out, increase confidence, develop healthy coping skills and improve communication skills so children and their parents can be happy again.
Children, who experienced trauma, are often unable to express their emotional pain in words. Play therapy allows them to make sense of their experiences and start healing via empowerment and regaining unconditional self-love and acceptance.
I treat children with compassion and respect, with the goal of establishing the trusting, positive relationships it takes to bring about real and lasting change. In counseling of children, I use play therapy and other positive behavioral strategies, aimed at helping children heal from trauma, develop effective communication skills, increase self-control, make positive choices, feel greater self-worth and reconnect with their inner strengths.
Average Length of Counseling
I offer once a week counseling at Angel’s therapy office. Usually the average length of counseling is about 6-10 sessions; however, each child is unique, so the length of counseling can be different for each child and family.
If your child is facing emotional or behavioral challenges, I am here to help. Together we can help your child heal from trauma, regain confidence and learn positive coping skills.
