Is your child acting out, struggling with behavior problems or experienced trauma?

Do you want your child learn how to control anger and develop healthy coping skills?

A child’s struggles with difficult feelings or negative behaviors can impact the rest of his or her life. Addressing these challenges during the child’s critical developmental years can set the stage for a happier and healthier future. As a licensed child and family therapist, I provide child therapy for children facing emotional or behavioral challenges in Vancouver, WA and surrounding areas.

Depending on the needs of your child and your preferences, we can have child therapy sessions in my office, arrange in-home child therapy visits, and/or have horse assisted child therapeutic services.

Every parent wants the very best for his or her child. But when children are faced with difficult emotional issues, their lack of life experience and coping skills can make those issues extremely difficult to overcome. That is where child and family therapy can help.

With more than eighteen years of experience working with children who experienced trauma, I am proud to say that I was able to help children heal and start enjoying childhood again.

Oftentimes, children do not know how to express their feelings and do not disclose incidents of bullying or other emotional pain from stressful events until they come to counseling.

I take to heart their concerns, and the concerns of their parents. I pour my heart and soul into helping children become happy again. I tailor my therapeutic approach to children, and aim to achieve the best possible outcomes for them.

In counseling of children (ages 3-12), I use Play, Art, Clay and Sand Tray Therapy to help them feel safe, express their feelings instead of acting out in anger, increase self-esteem and improve behavior.

Children, who experienced trauma, are often unable to express their emotional pain in words. Play therapy allows them to make sense of their experiences and start healing via empowerment and regaining unconditional self-love and acceptance.

I treat children with compassion and respect, with the goal of establishing the trusting, positive relationships it takes to bring about real and lasting change. In counseling of children, I use play therapy and other positive behavioral strategies, aimed at helping children heal from trauma, develop effective communication skills, increase self-control, make positive choices, feel greater self-worth and reconnect with their inner strengths.

I work with clients who have Regence, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Premera Blue Cross of Washington and other insurance carriers as an OUT-OF-NETWORK provider.

Your health insurance policy will often offer full or partial coverage for OUT-OF-NETWORK mental health treatment for your child and your family. If you decide to use your insurance your child will be required to have a mental health diagnosis.

You are responsible for the payment of the full fee for a child counseling session at the time of the service. Upon request, I will provide you with a receipt of payment for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Please call your insurance company to find out your OUT-OF-NETWORK coverage. Please ask how much out-of-network mental health coverage is and if you have a deductible that you need to meet before your insurance covers your sessions.
